BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — Drugs were involved in a fight at a Boulder County campsite that left one teen dead early Wednesday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.

Boulder County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Joe Pelle said a group of young people in their late teens were camping in the 5300 block Ridge Road just west of Nederland when a fight broke out shortly after midnight.

“One of (the teens) was fatally stabbed,” Pelle said. “We have a suspect in custody and are interviewing witnesses to sort out what happened.”

Outside of that, Pelle said investigators would not be releasing any further information at this time — about the identity of the victim nor the fight itself.

If the death is ruled a homicide, it will be the first in Boulder County in more than a year, according to the Boulder Daily Camera.
