Man in custody after alleged armed robbery, 15 mile high-speed chase

THORNTON, Colo. — A man has been arrested after reportedly robbing a restaurant at gunpoint and leading officers on a high-speed chase through Thornton Friday morning.

Thornton police were called to the Burger King located in the 300 block of W. 84th Avenue early Friday morning after reports of an armed robbery.

Officers in the area spotted a red, two-door vehicle matching the suspect description fleeing the location.

When police tried to stop the car, the 22-year-old driver, Ricardo Castro, took off and led multiple police agencies on a 15-mile chase through Thornton, Commerce City and Denver.

Officers were able to stop the vehicle and arrest the driver in the 16100 block of Green Valley Ranch Blvd. in Denver. The passenger of the car fled on foot and was later identified, but was not arrested.

No injuries were reported as a result of the chase.
