Road near CU’s Folsom Field collapses due to sinkhole
BOULDER, Colo. — It wasn’t as severe as the recent rash of similar issues across the nation, but the sinkhole that hit Boulder Thursday morning was enough to collapse a road near the University of Colorado’s Folsom Field.
Emergency crews believe that a water main break likely contributed to the sinkhole, which occurred on Folsom Street between Taft Street and Colorado Avenue shortly after 6 a.m.
Folsom Street was closed in the area while emergency crews worked to repair the damage. There was no estimated timetable given for when the road might reopen. Crews says it would likely be closed into Friday morning.
Given the size of the sinkhole — it appears to cover both lanes of the two-lane street — don’t expect the roadway to reopen anytime soon.
