AURORA, Colo. — D. Rico Munn has emerged as the top choice as the new superintendent of Aurora Public Schools. That announcement was made Monday.

The Board of Education will now start contract negotiations with Munn.

Munn is a litigation partner at Baker and Hostetler and an adjunct professor of law at the University of Denver.

He serves on the Board of Governors for the Colorado State University system.

Munn has also served as executive director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education and on the State Board of Education.

The APS Board of Education sought input from parent, staff, student and community groups through a survey, focus groups and interviews before making its decision.

Munn will begin July 1 assuming contract negotiations conclude satisfactorily.
