GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. — A man from Colorado Springs was killed when the horse he was riding fell on top of him after the pair fell off a cliff at the Grand Canyon Tuesday.

According to Arizona’s KTAR news, 46-year-old William Kevin Hagins was riding the horse with a group on a guided tour.

After the group of horses began moving up the trail, Hagins’ horse slipped off the 12-foot cliff. Hagins’ wife and 5-year-old child were with him at the time.

After landing on Hagins, the horse reportedly walked away from the fall.

Hagins’ body was taken to a local medical examiner’s office. Deputies are investigating the incident, according to the station.
