Since his death following a wild chase and shootout with police in Decatur, Texas Evan Ebel's friends, including one former inmate, have discussed the struggles the 28-year-old faced after leaving prison in January.

Ebel is suspected of killing Colorado Departement of Corrections Director Tom Clements and Denver pizza delivery driver Nathan Leon in a crime spree that ended Thursday in Texas.

"He was telling me he was having trouble sleeping, I've been through the same thing myself," said Ryan Pettigrew a former inmate who claimed to continue a relationship with Ebel outside of prison.
