Colorado lawmakers consider tanning bed restrictions for teens
DENVER — On Tuesday, lawmakers will consider a Democrat’s proposal to restrict teens’ use of tanning beds by requiring the youngsters to gain permission from their parents and doctors before doing so.
A House committee will hear testimony on the bill Tuesday before putting the measure up for an initial vote.
The bill, which is sponsored by Westminster Rep. Cherylin Peniston, would prohibit the use of tanning beds for teens under 15 unless they have a doctor’s prescription. Teens under 18 would need a parental permission slip or a doctor’s prescription to use tanning beds.
Colorado is among a small handful of states that don’t limit teen tanning bed use.
