Boulder burglar breaks into Apple store, steals $63,813 worth of merchandise

BOULDER, Colo. – Investigators are trying to find a man that stole $63,813 in merchandise after a smash and grab burglary at an Apple store early Saturday morning.

Police responded to 1755 29th Street just after 2 a.m. after the Boulder store’s alarm went off.

Officers found three large rocks that were used to break the glass entrance door, which police say was custom-made and is valued at approximately $100,000.

Surveillance video showed what police believe to be a male suspect wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, white gloves and a black baseball cap.

Video captured the suspect stealing various laptops, iPads and iPhones from security fasteners that attached them to display tables, according to a police report.

Security officers at the shopping center said they did not see anything unusual prior to the burglary. Apple store managers have hired extra security because of the incident.

Police ask anyone with emergency tip information to contact Dispatch at (303) 441-3333. Non-emergency information may be left on the Boulder Police Department’s Tip Line at (303) 441-1974.
