Missy Franklin closes out high school swimming career
DENVER — This weekend’s swim meet was a bittersweet one for Missy Franklin as she wrapped up her high school swimming career for good.
“I cannot fit how much these girls mean to me into 140 characters so all I’m going to say is
#iloveyou and #thankyou,” the Olympic gold medalist tweeted Saturday along with a picture of her Regis Jesuit High School teammates.
The Colorado State High School Championships kicked off Friday night in Fort Collins. Saturday, she won the 200-yard individual medley in 1 minute, 56.85 seconds – state and national records. She also set a state record in the 500 freestyle and anchored the Raiders’s 200 and 400 freestyle relays in victory. Overall, Franklin won the maximum eight individual state championships over her four years and 12 titles counting relays.
