Mother, son seriously injured after getting stuck under semi in Aurora
A mother and son had to be rescued from their car after it became lodged under a semi truck in Aurora on Jan. 25, 2012.
AURORA — A mother and son were seriously injured after their car became lodged under a semi truck Thursday morning.
According to Aurora Police, the accident started when the semi was attempting to turn left to south onto North Chambers Road from East 18th Avenue at approximately 7:30 a.m. The mother and son, who were travelling in a Volvo and heading northbound on Chambers, did not have a stop sign and slammed into the side of the semi as it turned.
The Volvo became lodged underneath the semi after impact, and a rescue operation ensued.
Police were able to remove the mother and her 9-year-old son, but both suffered serious injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals.
As police work to clean up the scene, Chambers was closed between 18th Avenue and 17th Avenue.
