New forms of classroom protection are showing up now that we seem to be seeing more shootings.

A company called Hardwire Armor Systems in Maryland has developed a dry erase board that doubles as a protective, bulletproof shield.

The company adapted some of its technology that is used in products it makes for the military to use in war zones to make the special white board.

Here’s the technical information. It looks like a dry erase board, and it’s made from an ultra-strong polyethylene-based textile called Dyneema.

The bottom line is that it’s a teaching tool that can be used as a shield.

The company’s CEO has already donated some of the boards to his children’s school.

They’re not cheap. They cost about $300 each.
