COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Colorado Springs Police are investigating a suspicious device that exploded near Memorial Park in Colorado Springs on Sunday afternoon.

According to KXRM, a couple who was moving into a rental property in the 800 block of Las Animas Street reported a suspicious item in the property’s garage at approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Joe Connelly was the one who reported the device, according to police, and he described it as a 4-6 inch plastic tube with a dark-colored substance inside and a two-inch fuse coming out of it.

The Colorado Springs Regional Explosives Unit responded and bomb technicians used remote procedures to investigate, police said.

The device exploded after it was removed from the garage and detonated in a remote area, according to police. No one was hurt.
