Denver High School student to meet President at Inauguration
DENVER — For those who didn’t know, the old Montbello High School in Denver is now divided into four learning centers, Collegiate Prep Academy is one.
The CPA received news this week about one of their first year students, Heaven-Leigh Howard.
The talented student already knows where she wants to go to college—Harvard—and what she wants to be when she ‘grows-up’—a lawyer—and next week, her plans are already clear.
Howard is heading to the Washington, D.C. where she will be one of two Colorado youngsters to attend the High School Presidential Inaugural Conference for leadership training.
“I was chosen in sixth grade to attend the middle school version a few years ago,” said Howard, who is student government President. “But this time, this is an opportunity that doesn’t come along very often, if ever!”
Heaven-Leigh will get to meet the President and her hero, Condoleezza Rice. She knows Rice got her law degree right here at the University of Denver Law School.
She says with luck, maybe she too can major in Political Science, become a lawyer and perhaps even President of the United States.
“The sky is the limit for me, I know if I work hard and do the right things I can also become the first in my family to attend college and represent my neighborhood and school in the best way possible,” Howard said.
The entire school and the far northeast Denver neighborhood is already super proud of this ‘firecracker’ as they call the freshman dynamo … so are we!
