3 pedestrians injured in wreck, delays caused on Hampden
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — A wreck involving two cars left three pedestrians injured and caused significant closures during the Wednesday morning rush hour.
Englewood police confirmed that the accident took place near the corner of West Hampden Avenue and South Elati Street just before 7:25 a.m. Eastbound Hampden remained closed at Elati as of 8:15 a.m. as police investigated the accident.
Police said the three pedestrians were about to cross the street when a car traveling eastbound on Hampden was struck by a car making a left turn from Hampden to Elati. Police said the car making the turn “bounced” into pedestrians.
All three pedestrians — two males, 40 and 26, and one female, 20 — were left in serious condition and transported to a nearby hospital. The drivers of the two vehicles had no major injuries.
The extent of the injures sustained by pedestrians was not known as of 8:15 a.m.
