LOS ANGELES — A major producer of adult films sued to block a new law in Los Angeles that requires porn actors to wear condoms.

Vivid Entertainment says Measure B, which voters passed last fall, violates the First Amendment right to free speech and expression, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The company also says it’s unnecessary because the adult film industry already has safeguards including regular blood testing of actors to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.

The lawsuit was filed Thursday in federal court.
