BOULDER, Colo. – An 8-year-old boy fell about 20 feet off a chairlift at Eldora ski resort Thursday.

The boy was riding on a triple chairlift for the resort’s beginner terrain and was near the top of the lift when he fell around 3 p.m., said Eldora spokesman Rob Linde.

The boy was with his mother. As they neared the top, they lifted the restraining bar and the boy fell when he scooted forward.

He fell about 20 feet to the ground, but landed on a large snow drift below him, said Sheriff’s Cmdr. Rick Brough.

He was taken by ambulance to Boulder Community Hospital with slight back injuries, deputies said.
