Broncos give Chiefs a bruising with 38-3 victory
DENVER — The Denver Broncos are now the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs after their victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. That win, coupled with the Indianapolis Colts defeating the Houston Texans brought the Broncos that much closer to the Super Bowl.
In Peyton Manning’s final drive of the day, the savvy veteran lobbed a 36-yard rainbow to Demaryius Thomas.
Running back Lance Ball then missiled his way through the middle of the line and expanded Denver’s lead.
Brock Osweiler would then lead the Broncos offense into field-goal range, and Matt Prater split the uprights.
Peyton Manning finished the day with 304 yards through the air in three quarters. His regular season stats include 4,659 yds, 37 TD, 11 INT, and a 105.8 rating.
4:42 p.m. — Brock Osweiler now in as QB for the remainder of the game. Osweiler completes his first NFL pass attempt, finding WR Matt Willis for a 5-yd gain.
4:31 p.m. —Lance Ball bulldozes his way through the interior of the line and punches it in for seven. You can now expect Manning to punch his time-card. Ball’s touchdown run gives Broncos 35-3 lead.
Brock Osweiler is stretching. D.T. and Decker are having themselves a ballgame.
4:10 p.m. — This is just ridiculous. Manning to Thomas. A 1-handed grab!!! DT didn’t want to get outdone by Decker. 28-3 Broncos
3:43 p.m. — Manning to Decker. Decker with a disgusting grab. Broncos making it look so easy. Up 21-3 going into the half.
Broncos QB Peyton Manning has set a single-season franchise record with 4,535 passing yards.
Rahim Moore with the sack. Denver D is sick!
3:39 p.m. — WolfeMan!!!! 3rd straight game with a sack. I would say he was a pretty, pretty good pick up by John Elway.
3:20 p.m. — Manning sends a laser between Javier Arenas and Kendrick Lewis, eventually finding the hands of Eric Decker. Decker’s 12th touchdown of the season! Denver now leads 13-3.
3:12 p.m. —If this were any other team, the Broncos would be losing. Now it’s time for Denver to throw a bomb to DT! Orlando Franklin is back.
If Brady Quinn can make some plays, the Broncos better be careful. KC is hanging around and that’s never good.
3:10 p.m. — Broncos were in such a groove and the rookie took them out of that in one costly fumble.
Not good. Orlando Franklin heading to the locker room. Chris Clark will replace the big man.
3:00 p.m. — It could have been a lot worse, but that Denver D continues to make big plays. Chiefs get a field goal. Broncos lead 7-3.
2:56 p.m. — Orlando Franklin is the one hurt. Manning saved the touchdown.
Ronnie Hillman just put himself on the bench for the rest of the day. Terrible fumble.
