DENVER — The Denver Broncos are definitely in the conversation when it comes to teams capable of winning the Super Bowl this season. Performances like the one Knowshon Moreno accomplished Sunday is just one indicator.
Denver is the hottest team in the NFL after winning nine games in a row. The only three games they’ve lost came against Atlanta (12-2), New England (10-4) and Houston (12-2). All three of those teams also happen to be in the Super Bowl conversation.
Denver lost to those teams at the beginning of the season, when quarterback Peyton Manning, his teammates and coaches were all trying to build chemistry, get systems right, and get into a flow.
Denver has the flow going now. The Broncos’ stout defense and strong running game are running at high levels. Denver is certainly playing “post-season” type football right now.
After rushing for 188 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos win in Baltimore Sunday, running back Knowshon Moreno was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week Wednesday.
Denver goes for its 10th straight win against the Cleveland Browns at Invesco Field at Mile High this Sunday. More Moreno expected… the Browns defense is average at best against the run with a 19th ranking in the league.
The Broncos have plenty to play for. They’re currently the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs picture, which means they will get a bye week and at least one home game in the post season if they maintain that position.
