Man dies after SUV hits two elderly pedestrians in crosswalk
BROOMFIELD, Colo. – An elderly man from Erie has died after he and another pedestrian were hit by an SUV Saturday morning.
According to Broomfield Police, officers were called to the intersection of Highway 7 and Mountain View Boulevard just after 4 p.m., after reports of an auto pedestrian accident.
Investigators said that an 80-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman were hit after a 51-year-old female from Longmont turned right in a blue Dodge Durango at the intersection.
Both victims were taken to a local hospital, however the man later died due to his injuries, according to police. The woman is expected to be o.k.
Officials do not suspect the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The westbound lanes of Hwy 7 were shut down for a short period time, but all lanes of Hwy 7 are back open.
The incident is still under investigation. The driver’s name and the names of the victims have not been released.
