Suspect flees after hitting Colo. Springs officer with car
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – An officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department is recovering after being struck by a car early Saturday.
Investigators said the officer stopped a suspicious vehicle with a stolen license plate near Illinois Ave. and Fillmore St., just after 1 a.m.
When the officer tried to detain the female driver, police said she took off, hitting the officer with her vehicle.
Officers said the driver crashed her car after a short pursuit near the intersection of Virginia and Nichols. She then fled on foot from the scene after the accident.
Police said they did not locate the suspect after containment was set up and a K-9 track was completed.
The officer who was hit was taken to a local hospital and was later released.
