AURORA, Colo. -- Olympic Champion Missy Franklin is officially heading to the Bay Area and the school of her dreams, The University of California for studying and swimming.

"I am so excited!", said Franklin. "I just love the campus and the school and just everything about the place it's located. I can just see myself sitting in one of those coffee shops."

Along with Missy, seven other senior girls signed letters of intent to CU, Yale, Tulsa, Oregon and Cal. Colorado is sending girls to top lacrosse, swimming, soccer and crew programs.

Cakes made by alumni were made in the shapes of the respective sports, and the packed gym wasted little time digging into them once names had been put to paper.

These young ladies will represent Regis well, all are great students and athletes and will leave behind a strong sports program.

For Missy, she puts aside a professional swimming career for two years to swim for the nation's top swimming program. "I know the money would allow me to be very well off for a long long time, but that can wait until I get two years in the water at Cal-Berkley," said the senior.

She will swim with her Regis squad this spring and then head to Cal in the fall.
