COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A 10-year-old girl was arrested after police said she accidentally brought marijuana to her school in Evans Tuesday.
According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, El Paso deputies escorted the girl from Evans International Elementary School after they got a call from the school district. She was later released to her parents.
A sheriff’s spokesman said the girl got the pot from a relative who has a medical marijuana card. The girl had less than an ounce, deputies said, and was “showing it to fellow students.”
The school district has a no tolerance policy which says the girl should be expelled. However, Stephanie Wurtz, a spokeswoman for the district, said they school is still working with investigators and “we want to make sure that we have all the right information and determine if what we think we know is the truth.”
