WINDSOR, Colo. — The principal of Windsor Middle School was arrested on a domestic violence charge last week and is now suspended, officials have said.
According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan, Doug Englert was arrested Thursday for what police said was a domestic violence dispute. Court records shows he was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, non-injury child abuse, harassment and domestic violence.
Englert has been placed on paid leave during the investigation, the newspaper reported.
A Windsor police sergeant told the Coloradoan the incident happened at Englert’s home and had “nothing to do with the school.”
Englert, 56, has worked at the middle school since 1994. Students there know him as “Mr. E.”
“He’s completely dedicated to the school, to the community,” parent Elisa Haworth told the Coloradoan. “I just don’t believe he could have done something to hurt a kid.”
