DENVER — The woman at the center of the David Petraeus affair, Paula Broadwell, was under investigation when she made two appearances in Colorado.
The FBI discovered the relationship between the former CIA director and his biographer during the summer. Petraeus resigned from the CIA Friday as the scandal became public.
Broadwll is a University of Denver graduate who spoke at the school just two-and-a-half weeks ago.
She made comments about Libya that are now the subject of intense scrutiny.
“I don’t know if you all had heard this, but the CIA annex had actually taken a couple of Libyan militia members prisoner, and they think the attack on the consulate was an effort to get those prisoners back.”
The CIA says Broadwell’s statement is totally false.
But it has raised national security concerns about what classified information Broadwell might know from her close access to Petraeus.
