DENVER — The Colorado Dental Board has the power to suspend or revoke a dentist’slicense, but it is bound by a Colorado law that allows dentists to re-apply for a license in just two years.

We found other states have laws with more teeth. In Arizona, Utah, Wyoming and Pennsylvania dentists must wait five years before re-applying for a license.

In Arkansas and Florida a revoked license can never be reinstated.

There are more than 4,600 licensed dentists in Colorado. Last year the board responded to 279 complaints and took action against 56. Dental board disciplinary actions are public records.

We went under cover with hidden cameras and found practicing dentists who previously had their license suspended or revoked.
