Child on tricycle seriously injured after getting hit by pickup truck

Pickup hits 7-year-old in Westminster, Colo. Oct. 1, 2012

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A 7-year-old riding a tricycle was seriously injured when he was hit by a pickup truck Monday evening.

The little boy was hit in an intersection at 132nd Ave. and Huron in the Casa Estates complex.

Police arrested the 48-year-old driver of the pickup for investigation of careless driving resulting in serious bodily injury.

“The 7-year-old was transported by Westminster Fire/Rescue to St. Anthony North Hospital,” says Westminster Police spokesman Wayne Read. “He was later transported to Children’s Hospital by helicopter. His condition is unknown at this time.”
