DENVER — The right three lanes of westbound I-70 will close at 7 p.m. Friday near Havana St. for bridge deck work. The closure will last until 5:30 a.m. Monday.
Only two lanes and the ramps will remain open, so major delays are expected throughout the weekend and drivers are advised to take different routes. See real time traffic conditions and delays here.
“We have been working on this bridge deck for the last several weekends, but due to the extent of the remaining work, we need a full weekend to complete the repairs and pave the bridge deck,” said CDOT Project Engineer Mike Bean.
“Over the weekend, we will replace deteriorated concrete on the bridge deck, pour new concrete and then pave the entire bridge deck in asphalt,” Bean says.
The work on I-70 over Havana Street is a $2.3 million project that should be done by the end of October. It’s part of a larger project that rehabilitates four other bridge decks in the Denver metro area including:
- I-70 over 20th Avenue- Work is complete
- Eastbound State Highway 58 over I-70- Work is complete
- I-70 over Old Golden Road- Work is complete
- I-76 over 96th Avenue- Only asphalt paving remains
