Teen accused of escaping handcuffs, stealing sheriff’s vehicle identified
The teenager accused of leading police on high speed chase early Sunday morning is expected to bond out of a Clear Creek County jail Monday.
Court records show 18-year-old Shelby Figuerora will face several charges including vehicular assault and resisting arrest.
The Clear Creek County Sheriffs Office reported Figueora escaped through her handcuffs after being pulled over for a traffic stop. They say she climbed out of the caged part of the sheriff’s vehicle and took off in it.
Deputies allegedly chased the teen for over twenty miles before her stolen car crashed onto the side of I-70.
