Domestic Dish: The newest doll, a classic soda and prostate cancer awareness

Posted on: 2:57 pm, September 18, 2012, by

Yesterday we talked about Caroline Abbott. She’s the newest American Girl historical character doll.

According to the American Girl story line, Caroline is an independent and adventurous young girl living near Lake Ontario in New York 200 years ago, during the War of 1812. And now we want to give you a chance to take her home.

Follow this link, like Everyday on Facebook and enter for your chance to win. We’ll give the doll away later this week.

Also on Tuesday’s Domestic Dish, we reminisced about the soda drink from the 70s, “Pop Shoppe.” It’s back at the Rocket Fizz Soda Pop and Candy Shop in Denver

You can find all four flavors — grape, root beer, pineapple and black cherry — at the store’s location on 1512 Larimer Street.

Finally, we closed the Domestic Dish with a surprising statistic you may not know: One in five men will get prostate cancer.

Even though it affects men, women can actually play a vital role in encouraging their men to get to the doctor to be tested. We spoke with businesswoman Sharon Magness Blake about it, and about an event she’s running in Denver on the subject this Thursday.
