COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Are you tired of the record heat Colorado has seen this year? You're not alone. In fact, it looks like our species isn't alone.

A wandering deer found some momentary relief from 90 degree temperatures Sunday in homeowner Scott Smith's pool Sunday, though maybe not on purpose. Smith said the large buck stepped on his pool cover, which then fell into the pool. The buck was trying to wrestle out of the cover when he was discovered.

Firefighters built a ramp for the animal and then coaxed him up it with ropes. According to Smith, the deer quickly left his property when he was out of the pool. The deer's swim lasted about four hours.
