DENVER — A pair of explosions injured one and caused a good deal of alarm in an east Denver neighborhood near a school and a church as residents were waking up Friday morning.

Denver Fire Department authorities say they responded to a call around 7:30 a.m. that an explosion had taken place near the intersection of Franklin Street and 35th Avenue and a fire had ensued in the garage of a residence. After crews showed up, a second explosion occurred.

The commotion took place just south of Wyatt-Edison Charter School and Annunciation Catholic Church.

Just one person was injured during the two blasts and fire, which spread to the rest of the residence. There was no word on the injured person’s condition as of 10 a.m.

Arson is being considered as a possible cause for the fire, which is being examined by investigators.
