Broncos make first round of roster cuts
DENVER – The Broncos made 13 player moves as the team starts to make mandatory roster cuts.
The biggest surprise Monday might have been the release of 13-year veteran long-snapper Lonie Paxton.
The Broncos will apparently go with the athleticism and down-field coverage offered by undrafted rookie Aaron Brewer at that position.
“I would like to thank the Denver Broncos fans, organization and media,” Paxton said in Twitter post Monday. “My support for the Denver and Colorado community will never change even if my uniform does.”
The Broncos play their final preseason game Thursday night at Arizona. They will have to make 22 more cuts to bring their roster to the regular season limit of 53 by 7 p.m. Friday.
Here are the moves made Monday:
— Elliot Coffey, LB, Baylor: Waived
— Mark Dell, WR, Michigan State: Waived
— Jason Hunter, DE, Appalachian State: Injured Reserve
— Cameron Kenney, WR, Oklahoma: Waived
— Anthony Miller, TE, California: Waived
— Cyril Obiozor, DE, Texas A&M: Waived
