ASHLAND, Va. — George Dennehy covered the Goo Goo Dolls song “Iris” at the Ashland, Va., Strawberry Faire last summer. These are the first words of the song’s chorus: “I don’t want the world to see me.”

For Dennehy, those lyrics now seem rather inappropriate.

Thanks to one of his favorite bands, the whole world was given the chance to see the 18-year-old guitar player who strums capably and beautifully despite being born without arms.

After stumbling upon an online video of his cover, the Goo Goo Dolls invited Dennehy on stage to play with them during a performance in Pennsylvania about a week ago. It’s safe to say the 18-year-old, who was adopted from Romania, brought the house down.
