Earthquake hits near Basalt in central Colorado

PITKIN COUNTY, Colo. — An earthquake hit near Basalt in the central Colorado mountains Tuesday afternoon.

The National Earthquake Information Center says the quake happened at 3:21 p.m. MDT and it registered 3.3 on the Richter scale. It didn’t cause any damage but people in the area felt it.

Basalt  is between Aspen and Glenwood Springs.

The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 3.1 miles.
