KELLOGG, Idaho – A 26-year old man plunged to his death from a gondola car at Silver Mountain Resort in northern Idaho over the weekend.
The Shoshone County Sheriff’s office told the Associated Press the man apparently climbed out the window of a moving gondola Saturday night. He then fell close to 85 feet onto rough terrain.
The resort said it’s the first time anyone has attempted to climb out of a gondola car in 20 years of operation.
The gondola car appeared to be near the top of a three-mile ride and headed down the mountain. The man had one friend at his side.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim.
