COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Colorado Springs Police arrested four individuals Sunday on charges of trespassing and theft after residents reported they were attempting to steal metal from homes destroyed by the Waldo Canyon Fire.

According to Colorado Springs Police, officers working post-fire security detail in the Mountain Shadows neighborhood located a vehicle attempting to the leave the area with stolen goods. Selina Blair, 19, Liza McFadden-Rhane, 51, Tero Rhane, 20, and Marshall Brooks, 29, were arrested.

Colorado Springs Police have confirmed 42 homes and 43 cars of Waldo Canyon Fire evacuees have been burglarized since the blaze began on on June 23.

Work is currently being done to rebuild homes in the Mountain Shadows neighborhood as well as other areas affected by the fire, which destroyed 346 homes and resulted in over $450 million dollars worth of insurance claims being field.

An intense criminal investigation is currently ongoing at the site of the fire’s origination, with arson still suspected as one possible cause of the blaze.
