FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. – Investigators say an argument between two brothers and their female roommate turned deadly around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, when 32-year-old Joshua McBride allegedly shot and killed his older brother with a 12 gauge shotgun.

Daniel McBride, 34, was found dead by Fremont County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a reported shooting at 0076 Holidays Hills Drive in Howard, Colo.

The town of Howard has a population of fewer than 800 and is located approximately 90 miles southwest of Colorado Springs in Pleasant Valley.

According to deputies, the two McBride brothers and a 27-year-old woman were involved in a “physical altercation when Joshua shot Daniel once” in the abdomen with the shotgun.

The woman received minor injuries during the dispute and was released after she was questioned about the incident. The three reportedly lived together in the home.

The younger McBride was transported to the hospital for treatment of a shoulder injury before being booked into the Freemont County Detention Center on a charge of Murder in the Second Degree. Bond was set at $30,000.

Investigators suspect that alcohol was involved.
