Sinkhole closes road into Cripple Creek
TELLER COUNTY, Colo. – A 20-foot deep sinkhole forced the closure of State Highway 67 just north of Cripple Creek around midday Saturday, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
The hole, which opened over a mine shaft under the highway, is about two feet wide at the surface and widens to around five feet under the asphalt. It’s estimated to be about 20 feet deep.
Traffic may still access Cripple Creek by using County Road 82.
