Man accused in tour bus bomb threat has $10,000 bond set

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. — A $10,000 bond was set Thursday for the passenger who allegedly made a threat on a Trailways bus heading from Salt Lake City to Denver via Fort Collins. 

Roland Paul Arel, 66, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly making a bomb threat.

At around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday the driver of one of two Trailways buses called police to report a passenger claiming to have a bomb.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Colorado State Patrol and the bomb squad responded to the Larimer County Ranch where the buses were stopped and passengers were evacuated.  A robot was then sent in to inspect the buses.

Authorities say Arel is a transient from Sacramento. He is now facing charges for what authorities believe was a hoax. Arel is currently in the Larimer County Jail awaiting his next court date August 16th.
