Investigator: Former preschool teacher kept disturbing journal
DENVER — A Denver preschool teacher kept detailed notes about his physical interactions with dozens of toddlers while he worked at the Paddington Station preschool.
The notes are from an 800 page journal investigators found when they searched 45 year old David Moe’s Denver home.
He is under arrest for investigation of possessing and distributing child pornography. There is nothing overtly sexual in the notes, but they are details about Moe hugging, tickling and kissing toddler girls.
In one instance he describes kissing a three year old on the lips. Agents say they found thousands of pictures and videos of hard core child pornography on Moe’s computer and Cds and DVDs.
According to court documents, he admitted to investigators that he collects and trades child porn.
The agents wrote, “Mr. Moe’s preference is to look at sexually explicit images depicting females ages four and older.” In the closet of a guest bedroom, agents also found sheets for a toddler bed or crib, although there is no such bed in Moe’s home. The sheets were “rumpled and/or stained.”
Agents say Moe told them he kept the sheets in case children at the school needed them. Moe was a teacher for 18 years at the highly regarded Paddington Station preschool.
In court today, investigators say teacher Ann Solomon failed to report to police, as the law requires, allegations that Moe molested a three year old ten years ago.
The school has said it changed policies and that Moe was never left alone with children after that alleged incident, but parents say there have been many times when Moe was alone with children and the policies were not followed.
A lawyer for the parents says they are demanding the school disclose to them and investigators everything they know about Moe.
The school Tuesday released a statement saying they have hired an interim head, after the current one stepped down.
They say they found Tuesday’s court hearing extremely troubling and that they continue to work with investigators.
