Obama campaign releases details on Colorado visit
DENVER – President Barack Obama’s campaign Monday released some details about the president’s two-day Colorado campaign swing this week.
On Wednesday, the president will hold what his campaign is calling a “Grassroots event” at Denver’s Auraria Campus at 1:15 p.m.
From Denver, Obama will head to Grand Junction for a similar event at Grand Junction High School at 5:25 p.m.
Wednesday night, Obama will fly from Grand Junction to Pueblo for an event there Thursday morning, followed by another event later Thursday in Colorado Springs.
Free tickets to the events are being given away beginning Monday at Obama campaign field offices near the scheduled events.
Romney set for big bus tour
While Obama criss-crosses Colorado, Republican Mitt Romney will be embarking on a bus tour across another group of swing states: Virginia, North Carolina, Florida and Ohio
Speculation is running high that Romney will announce his choice for a running-mate during the upcoming bus tour.
Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, former Ohio Sen. Rob Portman and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal appear to be among the most likely picks.
Romney outraises Obama again
Despite frantic appeals from the president to supporters to donate before the July 31 deadline, the Obama campaign was unable to close the fundraising gap in July.
July marked the second straight month where Romney’s campaign and the RNC raised more than $100 million, coming in at $101.3 million.
The Obama campaign said in a tweet that it brought in $75 million in July.
When July began, Romney had $170 million in cash on hand, while Obama had $144 million on hand. Three months earlier, Obama had a $90 million edge in cash on hand, but his campaign has spent heavily since then, saturating the airwaves with ads seeking to define Romney and supporting a vast network of campaign offices looking to drive up voter participation in key areas.
