July 2012 warmest on record

DENVER – July 2012 was the hottest July in Denver since weather records began in 1872, according to the National Weather Service.

The temperature climbed above 90 degrees on 27 days, setting a new record. The previous record was 26 days, recorded in 2000 and 2008.

Denver’s temperature topped 100 degrees on seven days in July, tying the 2005 record for the most 100 degree-days in July.  

Precipitation for the month was 1.68 inches below average.
