Weaponless man with King Sooper’s bag attempts, fails to rob bank
DENVER — A well-dressed, clean-shaven man carrying a grocery bag attempted and failed to rob a South Denver bank without a weapon, according to police.
The Denver Police Department said a Hispanic male in his mid 30s wearing a blue polo, khaki pants and a Denver Broncos hat walked into a Key Bank at the corner of Hampden and Monaco shortly after 10 a.m. and claimed there was a bomb in the area.
Police believe his attempt to rob the bank was unsuccessful, saying they do not believe he got away with any of the bank’s money as he fled on foot. A later search of the scene revealed there was no bomb or anything appearing to be a bomb near the bank.
