Police look for ‘peeping tom’ who set up camera at rec center
GREELEY, Colo. — Police in Greeley want help locating a suspected “peeping tom” who set up a hidden camera inside the family changing rooms at a city recreation center.
A woman found the camera at the family Funplex.
There’s a steady stream of parents and kids into the city facility, and the family changing rooms are especially busy as they change to go swimming.
Police say Sunday afternoon between 12:30 and 4:30, someone planted a “peeping tom” hidden camera inside the family changing room.
“The person discovered the camera hidden inside an air freshener,” says Greeley Police spokeswoman Sgt. Susan West. “What’s really suspicious is they don’t use air fresheners in these rooms.”
“Obviously when the patron saw it, she could tell it didn’t look quite right,” she says.
The woman alerted recreation center staff who called police.
Investigators reviewed security videotapes, and pictures on the hidden camera. They want to talk to the man whose picture you see above.
Witnesses say they saw him lurking around the changing room and then darting inside.
The picture looks as if it was taken while he was handling the hidden camera.
Susan West says the suspect is not someone staff at the recreation center recognize.
