AURORA, Colo. — Greg Zanis’ 12 hand-carved crosses honor the 12 who lost their lives. There is a large tribute lit entirely by candles. Hundreds of stuffed animals and balloons cover the ground.
“Gone but not forgotten,” reads the sign at the center of it all.
It’s just part of the scene at Centerpoint Drive and Sable Boulevard in Aurora. The site of the memorial across the street from the movie theater where a gunman opened fire on July 20 continues to grow.
Above, FOX31′s David Harpe captured patrons paying their respects on the night of July 23, 2012.
