COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A police officer was killed in a crash while in the line of duty Tuesday in Colorado Springs.
Officer Matthew Tyner was on a police motorcycle when the crash happened around 2:30 p.m. near Austin Bluffs Parkway and Silver Dr.
Details about the crash were not released.
Tyner joined the Colorado Springs Police Department in 1999. He worked for the Kansas City Police Department for three years before that.
“Matthew’s outgoing personality and friendship will be sorely missed by all those who knew him and worked with him,” says Colorado Springs spokeswoman Barbara Miller.
Tyner is the first Colorado Springs police officer to die in the line of duty since 2006.
