Police look for driver in fatal hit-and-run
DENVER — Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver Monday who killed a man who was riding his bicycle in downtown Denver.
The crash happened at 2:20 a.m. Sunday at Speer Blvd. and Lincoln St.
Witnesses say a green Subaru hatchback hit 30-year-old Daniel Peterson. His bicycle was dragged away from the scene and it has not been recovered.
Peterson’s brother, Matt, says doctors were able to keep his brother alive long enough for out-of-state relatives to arrive. They were able to be with him when he passed away.
Daniel donated all of his organs to benefit other people.
Matt says his brother was riding home from a friend’s house when he was hit.
Police say the driver fled the scene. The vehicle likely has front-end damage.
