Boulder Reservoir swim beach temporarily closed
Boulder Reservoir. July 12, 2012
BOULDER, Colo. — Swimming at the Boulder Reservoir has been temporarily suspended until at least 4 p.m. Friday, July 13 due to raised levels of bacteria.
Boulder Parks and Recreation managers believe the increased levels are a result of the significant runoff from heavy rain earlier this week.
A spike in bacterial levels is not uncommon in natural bodies of water after significant rain, said Jennifer Bray with the Parks and Recreation.
Water samples from the reservoir will be re-tested Friday. The swim area will reopen once bacteria levels are reduced.
