Motorist dead following overnight crash in Loveland
LOVELAND, Colo. – A 24-year-old man is dead following an early morning car crash in the 6300 block of north Highway 287.
The deceased man’s name is being withheld.
According to the Loveland Police Department, investigators determined that the automobile swerved, struck the guard rail, and then proceeded to smash into a light pole and finally land within a canal adjacent to the roadway.
Police have identified the driver as 27-year-old Omar Franco-Hernandez, and say he was under the influence of alcohol. He suffered no injuries.
Hernandez is being charged with Vehicular Homicide, Vehicular Assault, Reckless Driving, Driving Under the Influence, and Driving Without a Valid Driver License
A third passenger, 21-year old Heriberto Chavez, is in critical condition at an area hospital.
