LONGMONT, Colo. — A Longmont Police officer went to the hospital after he was apparently hit by lighting.
He was trying to catch speeding drivers when a bolt of lightning dangerously close and knocked him off his feet Tuesday.
He remained conscious and was able to call radio dispatchers himself.
“Could I have medical respond,” the 51-year-old officer said in his radio transmission. “I’m at the first bridge at Martin and Ken Pratt. I think I just got hit by lightning and I’m underneath the bridge on the foot path.”
He never did lose consciousness. Paramedics took him to the hospital to have doctors check him out has a precaution.
